- Hello, how are you?
- I'm fine,thank you. And you?
- Hiya, mate, fancy a cuppa and a chin-wag?
- I can't. Sorry, pal. I'm skint – so gutted!
have a blast
“have a blast”英文释义为“have a lot of fun; enjoy doing sth”,中文可以理解为“十分开心,很愉悦”。因此,“have a blast”可以理解为“have a good time”。
e.g. I always have a blast whenever I hang out with my families.
ball是“球”,have a ball也不是“有个球”,实际表示“玩得开心,尽情享乐”跟“have a blast”一个意思。
e.g. - How about going with me, Bill? - We'll have a ball.
as busy as a beaver
“as busy as a beaver”英文释义为:the condition of being very industrious, hard-working, or skilled at tackling many projects at once.
e.g. I am not looking forward to working, as being employed may makes you as busy as a beaver to some extent, which may drive me crazy.
另一个表示忙碌的习语是“up to my neck in”,也就是“busy with”。
e.g. I've been up to my neck in my study lately, and I always have to stay up pretty late.
