圣诞节(Christmas)又称耶诞节，译名为“基督弥撒”，西方传统节日，在每年12月25日。弥撒是教会的一种礼拜仪式。圣诞节是一个宗教节，因为把它当作耶稣的诞辰来庆祝，故名“耶诞节”。
大部分的天主教教堂都会先在24日的平安夜，亦即12月25日凌晨举行子夜弥撒，而一些基督教会则会举行报佳音，然后在12月25日庆祝圣诞节;基督教的另一大分支——东正教的圣诞节庆则在每年的1月7日。

圣诞色：西方人以红、绿、白三色为圣诞色，用来装点过节氛围。红色的有圣诞花和圣诞蜡烛，绿色的是圣诞树，红色与白色相映成趣的是圣诞老人。
圣诞树:在家放上象征伊甸园的“乐园树”，上挂代表圣饼的小甜饼，象征赎罪;还点上蜡烛，象征基督。
圣诞卡：在美国和欧洲很流行，也视为维持远方亲朋好友关系的方式之一。许多家庭随贺卡带上年度家庭合照或家庭新闻，新闻一般包括家庭成员在过去一年的优点特长等内容。
圣诞袜：最早以前是一对红色的大袜子，大小不拘。因为圣诞袜是要用来装礼物的，所以是小朋友最喜欢的东西，晚上他们会将自己的袜子挂在床边，等待第二天早上收礼。
圣诞帽：那是一顶红色帽子，据说晚上戴上睡觉除了睡得安稳和有点暖外，第二天你还会发现在帽子里多了点心爱的人送的礼物。在狂欢夜它更是全场的主角，无论你去到哪个角落，都会看到各式各样的红帽子。
圣诞大餐：吃火鸡的习俗始于1620年，盛于美国。英国人的圣诞大餐是烤鹅，而非火鸡。澳大利人爱在平安夜里，全家老小约上亲友成群结队地到餐馆去吃一顿圣诞大餐，其中，火鸡、腊鸡、烧牛仔肉和猪腿必不可少，同时伴以名酒，吃得大家欢天喜地。

Z:Here we go. When it comes to Christmas, we think of Santa Clause or Santa for short, Christmas tree, reindeer, presents, bells, lights, snowman, sleigh and snow.

Z:Actually, Christmas is an annual festival when Christians are celebrating birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th. Christmas is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians, as well as culturally by many non-Christians.
事实上，圣诞节是为了纪念耶稣的生日而举办的一年一次的节日，就在12月25日那天。大多数的基督徒是因为宗教的的原因庆祝这个节日，而许多非基督徒则是出于文化的原因庆祝它。
V:Wow, really interesting! Tell me more! Are there any special customs during Christmas, my dear Zivile?

Z:Of course, for example, we decorate Christmas tree and our houses, sing carols, make Christmas cards. We try to spent Christmas with our families and close friends. We make traditional food that is quite different in different countries. We make or buy presents, we help people with donations.

Z: It depends. For example, London is very multicultural so food comes from all over the world: vegetables, meat, fruits, deserts. You name it! You can buy mould wine on every corner too.

Z:Oh, I would love to have turkey or goose with gravy, potatoes and vegetables. This is very traditional in UK. For a special dessert we usually have Christmas pudding, mince pies or fruit cake .
